In the midst of constructing the city’s tallest hotel tower, our client encountered a significant challenge. Local authorities raised concerns, suspecting that the subsidence of the bridge retaining wall and quay wall was linked to the under-construction hotel tower. Faced with this serious accusation, we embarked on a meticulous geotechnical technical study and structural assessment to uncover the facts.
Our comprehensive geotechnical technical study focused on assessing the potential impact of Ciel Tower’s foundations and shoring systems on the adjacent bridge retaining wall and quay wall. Through rigorous analysis and precise measurements, our findings revealed a surprising truth: the hotel tower had no impact on the surrounding structures. The root cause of the issue was, in fact, related to the design flaws within the bridge itself.
Armed with these critical insights, we collaborated with the local authorities to address the actual source of the problem, fostering mutual understanding and paving the way for continued construction. Today, the hotel tower stands as a testament to structural resilience, while the project exemplifies the power of collaboration and technical expertise in overcoming challenges.
